The Coast Guard is declaring Sea Area A1 in certain areas off the coast of the United States based upon the performance of the Coast Guard’s Rescue 21 System and in accordance with SOLAS.

9/30/2014: GPS Satellite background and update

The Coast Guard announced the GPS-IIF satellite lauched in August was healthy as of September 17th, 2014 and the Civil GPS Service Interface Commmittee’s Executive Secretariat explains the meaning of this update.


8/21/2014: National GMDSS Implementation Task Force- meeting announcement

The Coast Guard’s Navigation Center announced an upcoming Global Maritime Distress and Safety System meeting on October 9, 2014 in Fort Meyers, Fla.


7/23/2014: Marine safety information data pilot project

The U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Center started a marine safety information data download pilot project to provide data to the public.


6/2/2014: Global Positioning System public meeting

The Civil GPS Service Interface Committee U.S. States and Local Government Subcommittee, will hold a regional meeting on June 6, 2014 to cover the broad array of GPS-based applications available.
