3/26/2019: Summary of recent National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee meeting

Representatives from the Coast Guard, offshore oil and gas industries, recognized organizations and numerous industry associations attended the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee semi-annual public meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, March 20, 2019. This post provides an overview of the issues and work items addressed during the meeting.


2/27/2019: National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee meeting scheduled

The National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee will meet in New Orleans, Louisiana in March to discuss committee matters relating to the safety of operations and other matters affecting the offshore oil and gas industry. All meetings will be open to the public.


2/7/2019: Notice of Federal Advisory Committee charter renewal

The Coast Guard announced in the Federal Register that, under the Federal Advisory Committee Act, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security renewed the charter for the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee for the period of Nov. 9, 2018 – Nov. 9, 2020.


9/20/2018: Recap of recent National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee meeting

Representatives from the Coast Guard, offshore oil and gas industries, recognized organizations and numerous industry associations attended the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee semi-annual public meeting in Houston, Texas Sept 11, 2018. This post provides a brief recap of the presentations and discussions on the progress of a variety of issues, including reports and recommendations stemming from the deliberations.


8/22/2018: National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee meeting scheduled

The Coast Guard announced in the Federal Register that the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee and its subcommittees will meet in Houston, Texas, September 10-11, to discuss matters relating to the safety of operations and other matters affecting the offshore oil and gas industry. All meetings will be open to the public.


3/23/2018: National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee vacancies

The National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee advises the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security on matters and actions concerning activities directly involved with or in support of the exploration of offshore mineral and energy resources insofar as they relate to matters within U.S. Coast Guard jurisdiction. Applicants selected for service on the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee via this solicitation will not begin their respective terms until Jan. 31, 2019.

10/25/2017: National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee meeting scheduled

The Committee and its Subcommittees will meet in Houston, Texas, Dec. 12-13, 2017, to discuss the safety of operations and other matters affecting the offshore oil and gas industry.


7/14/2017: Coast Guard seeks assistance from five federal advisory committees on regulatory evaluations

The Coast Guard announced in the Federal Register that it is issuing new tasking to five federal advisory committees to help the agency identify existing regulations, guidance, and collections of information (that fall within the scope of each committee’s charter) for possible repeal, replacement, or modification.
