12/16/2016: 2nd Liquefied Gas Senior Executive Forum held

The Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO) in cooperation with the Coast Guard’s Liquefied Gas Carrier National Center of Expertise’s (LGC NCOE) and The Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel (SGMF) hosted senior Coast Guard leaders and liquefied-gas-industry experts from around the country last week in Houston. This event was dedicated to preparing for the increased use of liquefied gases throughout the maritime community and gaining a deeper understanding of the intricacies each party faces as they adapt to the rapid growth of this multi-billion dollar industry.


11/23/2016: LGC NCOE gives 3-day LNG training to Panama Canal

The Liquefied Gas Carrier National Center of Expertise recently gave a 3-day LNG training to the Panama Canal Authority, Panamanian Government and first responders.


10/6/2016: LGC NCOE and industry experts provide technical training for future Coast Guard LNG fueled vessel inspectors

The Liquefied Gas Carrier National Center of Expertise works with the private sector to train Coast Guard LNG fueled vessel inspectors.


8/3/2016: LGC NCOE teams with NASA Stennis Space Center to learn about liquid hydrogen

As the industry continues to move forward, pressing the limits of new technology, so does the Coast Guard. Of recent, the Red and White Fleet in San Francisco area, is currently considering the option of a high-speed hydrogen fuel cell propelled passenger ferry. The Coast Guard Liquefied Gas Carrier National Center of Expertise (LGC NCOE) seeks to keep up with the application and implementation of these new gas technologies.

8/1/2016: Coast Guard awards Meritorious Public Service Award

The Coast guard recently awarded a Meritorious Public Service award to Roy Bleiberg, director of the American Bureau of Shipping’s Global Gas Solutions. Bleiberg was recognized for his support to the Coast Guard as a leading advocate for safe, clean and viable transport and use of liquefied and compressed gases within the maritime industry.


6/28/2016: Coast Guard speaks at international liquefied gas conferences

Earlier this month, the U.S. Coast Guard Liquefied Gas National Center of Expertise spoke at international conferences to discuss how the service is preparing for increased maritime use and transportation of LNG.


4/29/2016: Coast Guard works on hydrogen fuel cell high-speed passenger ferry

The U.S. Coast Guard is working with Red and White Fleet, Sandia National Laboratories, MARAD, ABS, and Elliott Bay Design Group to examine the technical and regulatory aspects of building and operating a high-speed hydrogen fuel cell passenger ferry and hydrogen refueling station in San Francisco.


4/12/2016: Coast Guard creates new foreign gas carrier examiner tactics techniques and procedures

The Coast Guard created its first foreign gas carrier examiner inspection guide to be used by vessel operators to best prepare for initial, renewal and annual examinations of foreign-flagged gas carriers.


4/11/2016: LGC NCOE works with Trelleborg to train Coast Guard personnel on ship shore connections

The Liquefied Gas Carrier National Center of Expertise works with industry to train Coast Guard personnel on liquefied gas ship shore connections.
