The Coast Guard published a safety bulletin providing clarification about the five-year mandatory dockside safety exam that applies to many commercial fishing vessels.


10/7/2015: Establishment of Tuna Vessel Monitoring System in the Eastern Pacific Ocean

The National Marine Fisheries Service is issuing regulations under the Tuna Conventions Act to implement Resolution C-14-02 of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission by establishing requirements for any U.S. commercial fishing vessel that is 24 meters (78.74 feet) or more in overall length engaging in fishing activities for either tuna or tuna-like species in the eastern Pacific Ocean.


8/26/2015: Mandatory commercial fishing vessel exam reminder

The Coast Guard published a letter to commercial fishing vessel owners and operators reminding them of the mandatory dockside safety exam starting October 15, 2015.
