The Coast Guard published Marine Safety Information Bulletin (MSIB) 016-16 as a follow up to MER MSIB 12‐16, which published answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) regarding the 2016 National Preparedness for Response Exercise Program (NPREP) guidelines as they pertain to Salvage and Marine Fire Fighting (SMFF) exercises and Government Initiated Unannounced Exercises (GIUEs).

FAQs pertaining to Vessel Response Plan (VRP) exercises may be revised on a regular basis, the Coast Guard’s Office of Marine Environmental Response (MER) will maintain and post the most current FAQs on the following website: https://Homeport.uscg.mil/exercises (select the “Port Level Exercises” link).

FAQs will no longer be distributed via MSIBs.

Please view MER MSIB 016-16 for full details.

Questions or comments with respect to VRP exercises should be e‐mailed to: vrp@uscg.mil
