This post provides a recap of the 3rd Annual Offshore Training Symposium at Coast Guard Headquarters, during which regulatory agencies and response partners exchanged ideas, learned about each others’ capabilities, and discussed the future of offshore environmental response operations.


11/6/2015: Mandatory Ship Reporting System for North Atlantic Right Whales – Survey

The Coast Guard is helping to get the word out to ship operators and crew on a survey that will help to evaluate and improve the MSR regarding the North Atlantic Right Whale.


6/12/2015: Panama Canal expansion

The Liquefied Gas National Center of Expertise held an exchange visit with the Panama Canal Authority to help prepare the Canal for their first Liquefied Natural Gas carrier transits once the Canal expansion project is complete.


2/19/2015: Cooperative research and development agreement – Western Rivers e-AtoN technology demonstration

The Coast Guard announces its intent to enter into a cooperative research and development agreement to prepare for a demonstration of electronic navigation technology to be conducted by the Coast Guard, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration.

The Coast Guard, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers recently invited you to share your comments and feedback regarding the modernization of navigation services. As of today, the presentations that were provided at the subject Listening Sessions are NOW available online at the feedback site for viewing prior to providing additional and/or updated feedback.

The Coast Guard announced that along with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, it will hold nationwide public discussions on navigational aid technology and how it will affect the future of America’s waterways.
