6/25/2014: Invitation to the 21st Century-Future of Navigation feedback website
Posted by Lt. Jodie Knox, Wednesday, June 25, 2014
The Coast Guard, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers invites you to share your comments and feedback regarding the modernization of navigation services.
May 1, 2014, the Coast Guard, in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers , conducted a series of nationwide public listening sessions on emerging navigation technology and potential enhancements in building the 21st Century Waterway.
The listening sessions were held in several locations across the country to provide for open communication between various federal agencies and U.S. Maritime Transportation System stakeholders as well as to provide three presentations, from the Coast Guard, NOAA and ACOE. These presentations detail how existing technology, such as Automatic Identification System, could provide an additional tool for mariners to use to improve their navigation of the waterways.
For those who missed the public listening sessions, the three presentations are scheduled to be released shortly. Subscribe to Maritime Commons to ensure you receive notification of the release!
In addition to the listening sessions and presentations, the Coast Guard, NOAA and ACOE continue in their outreach efforts and created a new feedback website for the maritime community to provide direct feedback on requirements for emerging needs for navigational information and delivery systems of that information, in a transforming navigational environment.
The feedback website is intended for mariners who are informed on this topic and want to provide direct commentary to help further optimize this initiative.
The opportunity to become informed on this initiative, and view the presentation, will be posted to Maritime Commons in the very near future.
Please visit the feedback website and provide your commentary. We want to hear from you!
